Introduction
1.1 Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour and human trafficking, all of which have in common the deprivation of a person's liberty by another to exploit them for personal or commercial gain. The term Modern Slavery captures a whole range of types of exploitation, many of which occur together. Someone is in slavery if they are:
• Forced to work – through mental or physical threat
• Owner or controlled by an ‘employer’, usually through mental or physical abuse or the threat of abuse
• Dehumanised, treated as a commodity or bought and sold as ‘property’
• Physically constrained or has restrictions placed on his / her freedom of movement1.2 GymRat is committed to improving its practices to combat slavery and human trafficking.
1.3 This statement is made pursuant to section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes GymRat's slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 2024 and covers the company.
